If you run a Shopify store, Klaviyo is the tool most of your peers are using — and for good reason. It treats ecommerce data as a first-class citizen: orders, products, carts, and browsing behavior flow in natively, and the pre-built flows (abandoned cart, browse abandonment, post-purchase, win-back) work on day one with revenue attribution baked in.

On the AI side, Klaviyo has invested heavily. K:AI spans generative content, Smart Send Time, predictive analytics, and conversational segment building, plus newer agentic features (a Marketing Agent that drafts ready-to-launch campaigns from your website, and a Customer Agent for support). Notably, the core AI features are available across plan tiers rather than locked behind an enterprise SKU.

Where it fits
Klaviyo is the strongest pick for DTC ecommerce revenue. If your users 'do things in an app' rather than 'buy things from a store,' an event-driven platform like Customer.io is usually a better data model.

The main trade-off is cost as you scale: contact-based pricing means the bill grows with your list, and SMS is billed separately. For brands where email is the primary revenue channel, most consider that a fair trade for the ecosystem and the out-of-the-box flows.
